MTF Trend Dashboard shows the trend on up to six timeframes of your choice in one compact panel, each scored the same way as Trend Master (price against the fast EMA, EMA stack and slope, with ADX for Strong), plus an alignment line that says how many timeframes point the same way. It uses only closed bars on every timeframe, so the panel never repaints, and it can alert you when the timeframes line up or fall out of line.
Highlights
- Up to six timeframes in one panel (default 5m, 15m, 1H, 4H, daily, weekly), each with Strong up, Up, Neutral, Down or Strong down.
- The same scoring as Trend Master, so the two tools always agree on the meaning of “Up” and “Strong”.
- Alignment summary, for example “UP 5 of 6”, with alerts when alignment is reached and when it breaks.
- Non-repainting: every higher timeframe is read from its last closed bar; the chart timeframe from its last closed bar too.
- Timeframes below the chart are hidden (or shown as n/a) automatically, so it is clean on any chart from 1m to weekly.
- Easy to read: the panel draws in front of the candles on a near-solid dark background, with Normal-size text by default.
- Light: six data requests in total, and an optional chart-timeframe EMA ribbon.
How it works
- Timeframes: six rows, each with a tick box and a timeframe. A row below the chart timeframe cannot be measured and is hidden (or shown as n/a). A row equal to the chart timeframe is computed on the chart itself.
- Score per timeframe (three parts, each +1, -1 or 0), the same parts as Trend Master without its higher-timeframe part:
- Price: close above the fast EMA (20) = +1, below = -1.
- Stack: fast EMA above the slow EMA (50) = +1, below = -1.
- Slope: the fast EMA’s change over 3 bars in ATRs (14) per bar: above +0.05 = +1, below -0.05 = -1, otherwise 0.
- Direction: score +3 = Strong up (with “Strong needs ADX” on, ADX (14) must also be at or above 20, otherwise Up); +2 = Up; -2 = Down; -3 = Strong down (same ADX rule); otherwise Neutral.
- Closed bars only: each higher timeframe is requested as its previous bar with lookahead, which is the last bar that has fully closed. The chart timeframe row uses the current bar only once it has closed.
- Alignment: counts the shown timeframes that are Up or Strong up, and those that are Down or Strong down. Aligned up when at least 4 point up (setting); if fewer than 4 timeframes are shown, all of them must agree. At least 2 timeframes are needed.
What you see on the chart
- Panel (top right by default), drawn in front of the candles on a near-solid dark background (Normal-size text by default), three columns:
- Title row: “ZQ MTF Trend”, Trend, Score | ADX.
- One row per timeframe: timeframe (the chart’s own marked “(chart)”), direction in its colour with a tinted cell (teal up, fuchsia down, bolder when Strong; Classic theme green and red), and the score (-3 to +3) with ADX.
- Aligned row: “UP 5 of 6”, “DOWN 4 of 5” or “Mixed 2 up / 3 dn”, plus how many timeframes are hidden or how many are needed.
- “n/a” for a timeframe below the chart (when not hidden) and “no data yet” when a timeframe does not have enough history for its slow EMA.
- Chart EMA ribbon (off by default): the fast and slow EMA of the chart timeframe, filled in its trend colour.
- Watermark: faint “ZynIQ MTF Trend”, bottom right.

Alerts
Create alerts with Once per bar close. Higher timeframes only change when their own bar closes, so alerts arrive at the close of the chart bar that first sees the change.
| Alert | Fires when |
|---|---|
| ZQ MTF Trend: aligned up | The number of Up timeframes reaches the “Aligned when at least” setting. |
| ZQ MTF Trend: aligned down | The number of Down timeframes reaches the setting. |
| ZQ MTF Trend: up alignment broken | Up alignment ends. |
| ZQ MTF Trend: down alignment broken | Down alignment ends. |
For the detailed message pick Any alert() function call: it lists the close, the up and down counts and every timeframe’s direction, for example “5m Up, 15m Strong up, 1H Up, 4H Neutral, 1D Up, 1W Down”.
Set it up for your market
| Market | Timeframes | Profile | Key settings | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Index futures (MNQ, NQ, MES, ES) | Chart 1m to 5m; rows 5m, 15m, 1H, 4H, D, W | EMAs 20/50, or 13/34 to match Trend Master Intraday | Aligned when at least 4. | Without a CME real-time data subscription TradingView shows futures 10 minutes late. Daily bars on electronic-hours charts start at the 18:00 New York Globex open. |
| Stocks | Chart 5m to daily; rows 15m, 1H, 4H, D, W (plus monthly on daily charts) | 20/50 | On a daily chart the intraday rows are hidden; set two rows to W and M for a useful panel. | Regular-hours charts give cleaner intraday rows than extended hours. |
| Forex | Chart 5m to 1H; default rows | 20/50 | Defaults. | Forex trades around the clock on weekdays; weekly bars start on Sunday evening. |
| Crypto | Chart 15m to 4H; default rows | 20/50 | Defaults. | 24/7 markets; daily and weekly bars follow the exchange’s boundaries (usually 00:00 UTC). |
How to use it
- Start from the top: the higher timeframes give the backdrop, the lower ones the timing.
- Look for trades in the direction of alignment (for example take Trend Master pullbacks only while the panel shows UP 4 of 6 or better).
- When the panel is Mixed, expect choppier conditions and be more selective.
- Use the alignment alerts as a “start looking” prompt, not as an entry.
Common mistakes: reading the weekly row as current price action (it is the last closed week); expecting the panel to change mid-bar (it only updates on closed bars); choosing the same timeframe twice.
Pairs well with Trend Master, Market Regime Master Pro, Pullback Zones Lite and the breakout tools.
Good to know
- Every row is the last closed bar of its timeframe, so a higher timeframe can lag by up to one of its own bars (for example up to a week for the weekly row). That is how it avoids repainting.
- Timeframes below the chart timeframe cannot be measured and are hidden or shown as n/a.
- A timeframe needs at least 50 of its own bars (the slow EMA) before it shows a direction; until then it reads “no data yet”.
- Uses six data requests, well under TradingView’s limit, and draws nothing on the price chart except the panel unless the ribbon is on.
- The panel sits in front of the candles and its background is almost solid, so it hides the price bars behind it: pick a Panel position (or Small or Tiny text) that keeps it clear of recent price.
- Not financial advice and no indication of future results.
