Key Levels Master draws the price levels traders watch every day as clean, labelled lines: the previous day’s high, low and close, today’s open, last week’s high and low, and for futures and stocks the overnight high and low and the regular-session open. Optional extras are last month’s high and low, Asia and London highs and lows, round numbers and the yearly open with last year’s high and low. Levels that sit close together share one label, and the HUD shows the nearest level above and below price.
Highlights
- Daily: previous day high, low and close (PDH, PDL, PDC) and the current day open (DO).
- Weekly: previous week high and low (PWH, PWL). Monthly (off by default): previous month high and low (PMH, PML); on intraday charts they often sit far from price and compress the price scale, so switch them on when you want them.
- Futures and stocks: overnight high and low (ONH, ONL) and the regular-session open (RTH O), switched on automatically for those markets. The overnight session is 18:00-09:30 New York for futures (from the Globex reopen to the cash open) and 04:00-09:30 for stocks (pre-market).
- Optional: previous month high and low, Asia and London session highs and lows, round numbers with an automatic step, and the year open with the previous year’s high and low.
- Each line starts at the candle where the level was made and runs to the right edge.
- Labels never stack: levels within 2 ticks or a quarter of an ATR (whichever is larger) share one label, such as “PDC / DO 21502.50”.
- Non-repainting: daily, weekly, monthly and yearly values come from the last closed higher-timeframe candle; session levels are built from your chart’s own bars once each session has ended.
- One alert for any level crossed (or touched), naming the level and its price, plus separate alerts for a close above the PDH and below the PDL.
- HUD with the nearest level above and below, the distance in points and in ATR.
- Only the current set is drawn by default; up to 10 past days can be kept.
How it works
- Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly levels. The high, low and close of the last CLOSED day, week, month or year come from TradingView’s own higher-timeframe candles, so they match the official values and never repaint. The day and year opens are the opening price of the current day and year, fixed from their first tick. The “day” is the exchange’s trading day: on CME futures it starts at 18:00 New York (17:00 Chicago); on a regular-hours chart it is the regular session. On a 1-hour chart and below this is what you expect; daily levels switch off on daily and higher charts, weekly levels on weekly and higher, and so on.
- Where each line starts. The indicator also follows the highs and lows on your chart’s own bars, so each line starts at the candle that made the level. If your chart history does not reach back far enough (for example last month’s high on a 1-minute chart), the line starts at the beginning of the current period instead.
- Session levels (intraday charts, in New York time by default):
- Overnight high and low: the high and low of the overnight session once it has ended (at 09:30 New York by default). They stay until the next overnight session has ended. You need an extended-hours chart (ETH for futures, extended hours for stocks) to have overnight bars; otherwise the HUD says so.
- RTH open: the opening price of the first bar of the regular session (09:30-16:00 New York by default). It stays until the next regular session opens.
- Asia and London (optional): the high and low of the last completed Asia (19:00-04:00) and London (03:00-11:30) sessions.
- “Auto” turns the overnight and RTH levels on for futures and stocks (funds such as ETFs and depositary receipts count as stocks) and off for forex, crypto and cash indices; you can force them on or off.
- Round numbers (optional): evenly spaced levels around price. The automatic step is the tidy number (1, 2 or 5 times a power of ten) nearest to 5 x ATR(14), for example 100 on 5-minute NQ or 0.005 (50 pips) on 15-minute EURUSD. Or set your own step. 2 levels above and 2 at or below price by default.
- Labels. Levels are sorted by price; neighbours within the merge distance share one label at the right edge. If they are at exactly the same price the label shows the price once (“PDC / DO 21502.50”); otherwise each name has its own price.
- Past days (0 by default): when a new day starts, the daily and session levels of the day just ended are kept as lines ending at that day’s last candle, with their own labels. Up to 10 days.
- Alerts are checked when a candle closes. “Close crosses a level”: the close is on the other side of a level from the previous close. “Price touches a level”: the candle’s range reaches a level the previous candle’s range did not.
What you see on the chart
- Fuchsia lines: highs (PDH, PWH, PMH, PYH, ONH, ASH, LOH). Teal lines: lows. Cyan lines: opens and the previous close (DO, PDC, RTH O, YO). Grey dotted lines: round numbers. Classic theme: red and green instead of fuchsia and teal.
- Line styles by group (all adjustable): daily solid, weekly dashed, monthly dashed and thicker (when on), yearly solid and thicker (when on), session levels dotted. Round-number lines start 100 candles back.
- Labels at the right edge, short codes by default (PDH, PDL, PDC, DO, PWH, PWL, PMH, PML, ONH, ONL, RTH O, ASH, ASL, LOH, LOL, YO, PYH, PYL) or plain English (“Prev day high”), with prices. A round number on its own shows only its price.
- Past days (if on): the same lines ending at each past day’s close.
- HUD (top right by default):
- Key Levels: the chart timeframe.
- Above: the nearest level at or above price, with its price.
- distance: points and ATR to it.
- Below: the nearest level below price.
- distance: points and ATR to it.
- Round step: the step in use (when round numbers are on).
- Levels shown: how many levels are drawn.
- Note (amber): e.g. “no overnight bars: use an extended-hours chart”, or “daily levels need an intraday chart”.
- Watermark: “ZynIQ Key Levels”, bottom right by default.

Alerts
Create them with Once per bar close.
| Alert | Fires when |
|---|---|
| ZQ Key Levels: price at a key level | A candle closes across (or touches, per the setting) any level that is shown. |
| ZQ Key Levels: PDH break | A candle closes above the previous day high after the previous close was at or below it. |
| ZQ Key Levels: PDL break | A candle closes below the previous day low after the previous close was at or above it. |
Any alert() function call sends one message per candle close, headed with the symbol, timeframe and close, naming every level crossed or touched on that candle with its price, e.g. “PDH 21534.25: closed above” (“Prev day high” with full label names; “: touched” in touch mode). A level only counts once it existed before that candle (the day open is not “crossed” on the candle that makes it). Round numbers are included only with “Include round numbers in alerts” on.
The level alert and the alert() message are worked out on the latest candle against the current set of levels, so they fire on live candles; they do not mark past crossings on chart history.
Set it up for your market
| Market | Timeframes | Profile | Key settings | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Index futures (MNQ, NQ, MES, ES) | 1m to 15m | Defaults | Overnight and RTH open on (Auto); round numbers on with Auto step | On an ETH chart the day is the CME day (from 18:00 New York) and the overnight levels show. On an RTH chart the day is the cash session and there are no overnight bars. Without real-time CME data TradingView shows futures delayed. |
| Stocks | 1m to 15m; daily for weekly/monthly levels | Defaults | Overnight = pre-market 04:00-09:30; on a daily chart switch on the previous month | Use an extended-hours chart to see pre-market high and low. On a daily chart, daily levels switch off; weekly (and monthly, when on) stay. |
| Forex | 5m to 1H | Defaults, plus Asia and London | Asia and London highs and lows on; round numbers (Auto gives 50 or 100 pips) | Overnight/RTH levels are off by default (no cash session). The day follows the broker, usually 17:00 New York. |
| Crypto | 15m to 4H | Defaults | Round numbers on; yearly levels for context | 24/7: the day is the exchange’s UTC day; overnight/RTH off by default. |
How to use it
- Before the session, look at where price sits between the nearest level above and below (the HUD).
- Watch reactions at the levels: a clean break and hold, a rejection, or a sweep (a wick through and a close back inside). Merged labels show where several levels stack up, which many traders treat as stronger areas.
- Use the PDH/PDL break alerts for day-trading setups and the level alert to be told when price reaches something you care about.
- Keep the chart clean: switch off the groups you do not use, and use past days only when you want to study how levels behaved.
Common mistakes: treating every level as a turning point (price often runs through); ignoring which day definition your chart uses (ETH and RTH charts give different previous-day levels on futures); switching on every group at once on a 1-minute chart. Pairs well with Session Master, Liquidity Master, VWAP Master and Market Structure Master.
Good to know
- Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly values come from the last closed higher-timeframe candle; overnight, Asia and London levels appear when their session has ended. None of them repaint.
- The current set is redrawn on the latest candle as it updates; alerts are decided on closed candles.
- If a level’s line starts at the beginning of the current period instead of the candle that made it, your chart history did not reach back that far.
- Round numbers in Auto mode follow ATR, so the step can change between timeframes or when volatility changes a lot.
- The indicator makes four TradingView data requests (day, week, month, year). Your TradingView plan limits how many indicators you can run on one chart.
- TradingView allows up to 500 lines and 500 labels per indicator; the current set uses about 10 lines with the defaults (under 30 with every group on), each past day about 10.
- Previous month high/low is off by default: on intraday charts it often sits far from price, which compresses the price scale and makes the nearby labels crowd together. Switch it on for swing trading or higher timeframes.
